Hiker's mosquito protection kit

In tropical forest, protection is non-negotiable. Here is the essential equipment for hiking safely.

🧴
DEET 30%+ repellent
Essential in dense forest. Sweat-resistant, long-lasting action (6–8h).
👕
Light long clothing
Long-sleeve shirt and trousers in breathable fabric. Permethrin on clothing doubles protection.
🧢
Wide-brim hat
Sun protection AND physical barrier for face and neck, areas highly exposed to bites.
🧦
High socks
Tuck trouser bottoms into socks to protect ankles, mosquitoes' favourite area.
🩹
Soothing cream
If bitten: hydrocortisone cream or aloe vera gel to quickly calm itching.
💧
Plenty of water
Dehydration amplifies bite reactions. Minimum 1.5L for 3h walking in tropical forest.
Protection anti-moustiques randonnée
